My Story

 

Playing basketball has always been my passion.  Teaching players the game I love full-time has always been my dream and FOR THE LOVE ATHLETICS has allowed me that opportunity. If your passionate, love the game of basketball and looking to improve, you have found your trainer!

 

Founder, Bj Spencer basketball experience:


 

High School

 

B.J. Spencer was a standout player his junior and senior year (2000-2002) at Starkville High School in Starkville, Mississippi.  During his senior year he was selected Dandy Dozen, one of the top twelve high school players for the state of Mississippi. B.J. was a all-state selection his junior and senior year in high school, and district 5-5A all first team for his area. Bj also was teammates with Travis Outlaw, selected with  the 23rd pick in the first round of the 2003 NBA Draft by the Portland Trailblazers.

 

College                                                                            

After high school B.J. attended Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, FL where his team won the Florida Junior College championship (2002-2003). Northwest Florida went on to place 5th at the juco national championship held in Hutchinson, Kansas that year.  After Junior college B.J. accepted a scholarship to Jacksonville State University (2003-2006).   For the Gamecocks his junior season, Spencer averaged 11.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, while leading his team with 53 three point shots made for the season. 

 

Spencer had a break out senior season with a team leading 15.3 points per game, 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists. The 2005-2006 season Spencer broke JSU records for 3 pointers made in a season (84), 3 pointers made in a game (8), and 3 point field goal shooting percentage for a season (45.8%), Ranking him 9th in the nation for 3PT FG shooting percentage for the 2005-06 NCAA Division I season.  Spencer also ranked 29th in all of NCAA Division I in overall offensive rating & efficiency by Kenpom Rankings.  Against Auburn, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt of the SEC conference, he averaged 18.0 points, 3.3 threes, 3.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals, according to Street & Smith magazine.

 

Professional

After Jacksonville State, B.J. went on to play professionally for six years in Europe. B.J. played two years in Spain Leb Silver (Balnerio de Archena and Matchmind Carrefour).  One year in Iceland (KFI).  One year in Poland (Gornik Walbrazych).  One year in Portugal (Ovarense).  One year in Lebanon (Antranik).
